The Children's Place Boys' Uniform Chino Pants

The Children's Place Boys' Uniform Chino Pants

The Children's Place Boys' Uniform Chino Pants

We love these pants! Our older son wears navy blue ones with his school uniform, and he has had them in both pants and chino shorts in 2T, 3T, and 4T, which he has recently outgrown. (We've also bought them in khaki for wearing on non-school days.) He's tall and thin, but with the adjustable waist (7th buttonhole on both sides!), the 5s fit him just fine. They're not tight in the legs on him, either, so I'd say they're true to size. If you're not sure, go try them on in-store, if you can.

When our son needed 5T/5 pants, I went to The Children's Place, but they didn't have any in navy in his size, so out of necessity I went to Old Navy and bought two pairs. Big mistake. Their pants seemed nice enough and cost about the same as the pants did at The Children's Place, but before long it was obvious that I should've ordered these pants instead of buying at Old Navy. The Old Navy pants weren't as dark blue as these to start with, and they started to fade, especially on the knees, within two or three washes. (Read reviews on their site if you don't believe me - we're not the only ones!) Recently he fell on concrete and not particularly hard (I witnessed it), and his Old Navy pants got a huge tear in the knee. I went to The Children's Place to replace them and couldn't find any in his size, so I walked out of the store and ordered them from Amazon for a great price! Additionally, it was a Saturday, and I received them on Monday (yay Prime shipping!).

The comparison between these pants and the ones I got from Old Navy is astounding. Granted, these are new, but the color is so much deeper, and the fabric is much thicker and higher quality than Old Navy uniform pants. Our experience with these chinos is that they don't wear out easily in the wash, unlike other pants and shorts (including other styles from The Children's Place).

I am so glad I bought these and will not go back to Old Navy. I would buy more, but I am not sure if we'll need to buy more before he is permitted to wear shorts again (March 1st). The good news is that our younger son is almost certainly going to this school for the next two years, and all the pants and shorts we have from The Children's Place in this style are all still in great condition. As such we likely won't have to buy many, if any, uniform pants/shorts for him.

Something to keep in mind in case it matters to you - these are not toddler sizes, so the button on the pants is indeed a button, not a hook-and-eye closure like the 2T-4T pants have.

All in all, the pants are high quality for the price. You really can't beat the value, even if you go to other stores.

When I get home tonight, I'll try to take a picture of these next to the Old Navy pants so that you can see the difference between the two and the wear and fading that the Old Navy pants have suffered after only a month and a half of being in the uniform pants rotation.

Edited to add photo on 1/13/16: Pants on the right are Old Navy - note the fading on the knees and the lighter color overall. They were worn 1-2x/week starting in early November 2015 and were not worn for 2.5 weeks for winter break - so not worn that much.. Pants on the left are the ones being reviewed.

These pants fit incredibly well!!! We bought the 6 Slim for my very thin 7 year old. He could wear 4T in the waist and have room.. but pants are so tough, because he is so tall and skinny. These were PERFECT. The quality is exceptional. I can tell these will last a while. The length on the 6 Slims were perfect for my son, who is 48in tall. The waist has an adjustable band built in, so we could tighten it up a bit, and it didn't look bunched up or awkward. The hips and legs are straight and slim-cut, so he isn't swimming in extra material. Seriously.. we bought 4 pairs to use as his school uniform pants. Then bought 2 more in the next size up, in case I can't find them next year. Perfect!

These are nicely made and soft. They seem to run just a tiny bit big. The description doesn't mention it but the button closure is a real button closure as opposed to the fake button hooks. My son isn't quite ready for real buttons so I just wanted to mention it so that others are aware.

Looks a lot better in person! My son is 9 years old slim, I was worried it would fit him too small since they didn't have a size 9 but it fit him just right!

Purchased these for my ten year old. He's 4'8" and almost 60lbs, but with long legs, so I have to order a slim size larger. I got these in a 12 and they fit great! The material quality is excellent, soft and durable, and the elastic adjustable band in the waist is perfect! Would buy again!

These are good, heavy duty pants that can stand up to an 8 year old active boy and many washes!!!! My Son has a dew pair from last school year that he was still able to wear this year and the color is still nice and dark and theres no wear in the knees like most uniform pants!!! And I wash them in Tide detergent once a week for many weeks!!! Im super impressed. Well worth every penny!!!

I bought these pants for my somewhat picky son! He wears these as part of his school uniform. They are soft, but of good construction and material. They have already lasted through many washes and kept the dark navy blue color. He prefers oldnavy brand because of the soft feel and perfect fit, however to my advantage, these were a perfect replacement!! They appear to have potential to outlast the oldnavy pants due to the better material. He often gets holes in his oldnavy pants before he out-grows them.

These pants look great on my 10 year old who is tall and slim. they look nice with a dress shirt too. I've only washed them once, so they still look new. I threw them in the dryer on low and I didn't need to iron them.

I'm very pleased with how these pants fit my son. He is very slender and difficult to fit. To fit the waist there must be the adjuster tabs inside, and even with that often pants don't work. He's happy to have nice looking pants that don't slide down or bag/gather greatly at the waist due to having to cinch so tight with a belt. Thank you for a great pair of pants.

The reviews say these are even more extra slim than normal pants. Well, my son is super extra slim (he can fit in size 6 shorts, but wears 14's in pants, for length), and these are perfect! He looks great!
