I received this yesterday and like it so much that I sent one to my mom and sister. The material feels like swim suit material, and is very lightweight. I hand washed it in the sink with a bit of laundry soap before using, rinsed it well, wrung it out and snapped it (like shaking sand off a beach towel) a few times. It was 80 degrees out when I went for a 45 minute walk, and I was super comfortable. I wanted to see how long it would stay cool and left it on 4 hours. It was still cool! I snapped it a couple of times and it was cold again. I rinsed it and hung it over the shower curtain and it was dry in the morning. I was surprised how long it is, 20" or so, but it scrunches up nicely and looks pretty cute.
When I got it, I followed the instructions for preparing it, and put it on. It was 11:30 AM and 113 outside and I put it on around my neck and over my head. I worked out in the garden for about 1/2 hour. That is about 25 minutes longer than I stay in that temp without the cool band. So it works. And unlike the towels, It isn't touching my clothes so I get the coolness where I need it, my neck and head. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that is is a little too snug for my liking. I am not super model sized, but I am also not Red Queen head sized. So if it could be just a smidgen larger so you can do all of the cool wrappings without feeling confined, that would be great. It does work and I do recommend it.
This was NECESSARY on my hot hike in the Grand Canyon a few days ago. It was reaching dangerous temps (110) and I almost overheated several times. This is amazing cause it only needs water and to be whipped around. It gets so cold! It cooled me down and I was able to hike safely.
I ordered this for my daughter who is a heavy equipment operator and has been working in extreme heat. She has tried cooling shirts and her company purchased an item just like this but a different brand and nothing helped with thr heat. She tried this chill pal thinking that it would be no better. After one week with her chill pal she said, "Mom, it is AMAZING! Everyone on my crew wants one." She tried it simply around her neck and also over her head under her hard hat, said it works great either way.
I used this for the first time last weekend hiking up a hot, steep mountain trail and was so impressed I kept talking about it to my hiking partner. I am a field biologist and love hiking and backpacking, but my Achilles heel is always a (probably genetic) tendency to overheat. Put me in a group of people exercising in a hot environment, and I will always be the first one to fail - sometimes dangerously so in extreme conditions. I have tried everything over the years to keep myself cool: long loose clothing, sun hats, dousing myself with water, and wet bandanas around the neck. However, this thing is a game-changer for me. I got it in anticipation of a 40 mile backpack trip I have planned, and am (being well into middle age) slightly intimidated by, and so was looking for any advantage I could get. Although the Chill Pal doesn't appear at first glance to be much different from a standard "wet bandana" option, the material has such different properties than cotton (which just gets hot and wet) that it was light years more effective for me. I did as directed - wetting it, "snapping" (no special technique - just air it out), then wearing around my neck as soon as I started to overheat. It feels like slippery, soft, bathing suit material, and is comfortable and actively cool - even cold feeling. Basically it stopped my overheating process in its tracks - more effective than anything I've tried short of dumping a bucket of water over my head. I was in hot, dry conditions outdoors, where I'm guessing it excels most. When the sun got its most intense, the Chill Pal is long enough that I pulled it up over my head like a hood, which probably looked goofy but I didn't care - it kept my ears from sunburning and my head cool. I'm totally sold and won't hike or do field work in deserts or hot conditions now without this.

Description
This cooling towel is another great product from Chill Pal. I've used their cooling towels in the past and they definitely help keep me cool. I use their cooling towel every time I run on my treadmill at home. This product, however, is a little different in that it works best outside. I don't like to hang onto my cooling towel when I run outdoors, so I never bring it. With this cooling band, now I won't need to worry about it.
The details on this product's Amazon page is pretty sparse, but the information you get with the product is great. It tells you to wash it first, soak it in water, wring it out, and snap it in the air to activate the cooling process. As with my previous experiences with this brand, the process works well and the towel can get quite cool. If the towel becomes warm or saturated in sweat, you can wring it out and snap it again to start the process over. It won't be as cool obviously, but you'll get a little more life out of the band if you need to finish up a run or workout.
This towel is a long band (think headband) that can be worn in a variety of ways.I like to bunch it up like the main picture shows and wear it on my head that way. Sometimes I will pull the material from the front and wrap it over the top of my head and tuck it in under the bottom of the band on the back of my neck. This gives me an extra point of contact with the towel for more cooling sensation. You can also wear it bunched up around your neck if you prefer.
I first tried to use it indoors for a treadmill run. It worked ok, keeping the top of my head cooler, but it did little to keep the sweat from streaming down my face. The next time, I wore it for an outside run and that's where this product really shines. The breeze as I'm running really helps with the evaporation process. My head stayed very cool and I didn't really have any problems with sweating. Of course some days will be better than others. There's not much that can stop a 100 degree weather day from making you sweat, but this should provide some relief.
Go Active Lifestyles also has exceptional customer service. I contacted them because of a small issue. I had a small snag in this band, which is unusual based on my previous experience with these products. I contacted them just to find out if this was normal or if I was just unlucky this time (as I thought might be the case) and they offered to replace the band with no questions asked. That's very generous considering I hadn't even filled out the warranty information yet. this company stands behind their products and are very courteous about it. I can't say enough about them.
This towel will be a great outdoor companion for me. I plan to use it on outdoor runs or if I know I'm going to be outside working in the heat. It is a great way to try to stay cool. I can see it being used in a variety of situations, such as running, working out, outdoor occupations, yard work, etc. I don't think you can go wrong if you looking for a product like this. This company is superb and the product works great!
I have tried several different cooling towels through the years. I go fishing a lot and living in Texas, this heat can be really tough to deal with so having a good cooling towel when outdoors is a must for me. Most cooling towels are one long piece of fabric. This one I like because it is enclosed so I don't have to worry about it coming unraveled or falling off of my head or neck. It fits perfectly on your neck and if your head is hot or you want to keep it cool, you can even pull it over your head. Ingenious really! This one has been working great for me these past couple of weekends on my fishing trips and I look forward to using it in the hotter months of July and August. It will be a lifesaver, for sure!
I really wanted to love this! Way too tight to keep on neck/head. I so wish the hole was wider or adjustable. I love the color and it seems like great quality. However, when I put around neck it was uncomfortably tight. I was able to put on my head, but it was so tight I started to get a headache. I would say my neck size is pretty adverage for a woman. So this would probably work best for older kids/young teens. Unless you have a smaller neck/head.
I absolutely love this cooling bad.
It comes in a really neat zipper bag that really helps keep it wet if you are needing it on the go.
It is simple and easy to use. And the sellers also send you an email with more tips on how to use this.
The band is really long, bigger than what it looks in the pictures.
All you have to do is soak it in cool water, wring out the excess water unless you want or need it all drippy and then use it anyway you want.
I love that it is in a band shape. I can put it around my neck when i am working out on my bike without worrying about it slipping and i can also use it when working in the garden and it wont slip off and keeps my neck very cool.
It is made with very stretchy material and will work on anyone, but its also long enough that you can just drape it around your shoulders.
i also love that when its around my neck i can pull it up around my hair and it will cool my whole head and neck down.
Definitely a great product and i plan on buying more for my kids and husband!!!
I have an intolerance to heat- so I get heat cramps, and heat exhaustion easily and frequently. I’m always planning for ways to keep cool in the summer. I’m a wedding photographer so I can’t just whip out my handheld electric fan all the time. I thought I’d give this a try and it exceeded my expectations. It was packaged so nicely, arrived timely, and the product itself is extremely high quality ( and has a super cute pattern ). It stays cold for a long time- I will even take a hot bottle out of my car, pour water on it, snap it, and the neck wrap is somehow cold. Idk how it works. It’s a heaven-send and has quite literally saved me. My car overheated the other day so I put it on while I waited for a ride in 100 degrees at noon. Idk how I would have done without it. I’ve worn it to photo shoots, and have been doing so much better. I honestly worried if my heat intolerance got worse if I could continue to specifically do wedding photography because of the amount of summer weddings that take place. It has given me hope- I truly am grateful to have found my chill pal. I will be ordering more- fan for life!
