Keepgo Global Lifetime Mobile WiFi Hotspot for Europe, Asia & the Americas + 1GB credit

Keepgo Global Lifetime Mobile WiFi Hotspot for Europe, Asia & the Americas + 1GB credit

This is an amazing and nifty little product. My phone is not enabled for use in Europe. We traveled with the Keepgo and used it to look up maps, surf the Internet, and even make calls using Google Hangouts. We didn't have to buy a sim card. It worked perfectly in Europe including in a car while traveling outside of major cities. We never ran out of the data that was loaded on the Hotspot. This is an incredible little handy device and overall saved us the ton of money it would have cost to buy new phones that worked overseas. Easy to set up, use, and carry with you during travels of any kind. We are going to try to use it while hiking in remote places, to see if it gives us better coverage than our cell network. Brilliant little device.

I used this in Sweden. It takes a few seconds to a few minutes for it to connect after you turn it on. The phone will detect it right away and you'll connect to the hotspot, but for the hotspot to connect to Keepgo, it takes a bit. You'll get a message telling you to log in, which you don't need to do once you have your phone connected to the mifi.

It's not that hard to buy data, but you need to go to the website and enter in the last 6 of your sim card to see how much data you have left. I wish there were an easier way or app to check.

It needs to be expanded to more countries in Asia though. The benefit of this is that you can just take the sim card out and then maybe get one locally I think. I haven't used that method yet, but my phone isn't unlocked which is why I went with this product

I really like this device, I have to say it's beyond my expectation. The reception was pretty awesome overall. I traveled with this to Canada early this month and it did serve the purpose during most of the time. Although I had encountered some problems during my last couple days of my travel, I contacted them when I got back to the states and they responded quickly and resolved my problem within a decent time period. I really appreciate their assistance and patience and how they helped me out to resolve the issue. Credits to their technical support team for resolving my issue within a timely manner. This is definitely a good product and pretty easy to use in my opinion. I just hope that Japan will be covered in the near future, and that will definitely be more convenient for people who travel there often.

We used the Keepgo on our trip to Ireland. It worked perfectly. Very happy with the purchase

Works as advertised. I used this unit frequently during a recent trip to Italy and am very pleased with its performance. Works equally as well in the US. Data is a little pricey but worth it.

  • I travel a lot internationally and I did extensive research before deciding on this product. This amazing device kept me connected all over Europe this past summer. I love that I could use my own phone and I didn't have to go around buying SIM cards for every country. I was in the UK, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, France and this small, lightweight device just did it's magic and I was connected to Wifi without a glitch. I used it for GPS on my phone, my daughter used it to send photos on Snapchat. Before I went I had some technical questions (The instructions were not super clear in the package) and I called the support number and to my delight someone actually picked up the phone and helped me. It turned out that there was nothing I needed to do before turning it on and using it. I did buy 3 extra Gig and used 2. I really can't say enough about this great product!

Excellent product, it works every place as long as there is a cell signal. Can be expensive if used for downloading videos, music or large files.

My family and I used this extensively on our trip to Germany and Austria and couldn't be happier. My daughter used it with her iPad while we were driving, and we all used it for our smartphones while exploring various towns. I measured speeds in the 1+ Mb/sec range, which was great for the vast majority of our needs, though it probably would have been a challenge to stream with that amount of bandwidth.

Customer service was outstanding. I missed out on a promotion they offered, so they offered to give me extra data to make up for it. (I saw some of the older reviews about customer service, but it really does sound like they upped their game in this arena.) Had I stayed in Austria for an extended period of time, I probably would have purchased a prepaid SIM for just Austria, which would be less expensive than refreshing Keepgo data at their (nearly) any-country rates, but I did not use all of the data Keepgo gave me. Regardless of the ability to use a local SIM, I like the flexibility of having the multi-country data option as a backstop. For me, that's the right combination of flexibility with a no-hassle default.

I have now used this in one location, down in Brasil for almost a month. Even in more remote areas I was able to get a descent signal. I used it primarily for checking emails, facebook, internet browsing, GPS directions, but I also used it for watching my security camera at home. I probably shouldn't have done the latter because it ate at my data, but I easily replenished my data plan with the 3GB since I plan to travel to Spain next year. The data plan you purchase can be used for one year from the date of purchase, so just make sure you buy what you plan to use. To buy more data, or to check your data balance, just google keepgo balance. You will need to open the equipment to access the number on he inside.

This thing is very small and portable, which is great considering you are traveling when you use it. The USB charge cord is also small, and it comes with two charge plugs, one is the normal American style, and the other is one that worked in Brasil, and I think it works in Europe.

I found the battery life to be decent, but it could be improved. I also wish it would have warned me when I was reaching my data limit. If it did, I didn't notice it.

This device definitely works as promised. I bought it in the US and took it to Europe. These days, data is king when traveling. Especially among the youth, voice calling is either nonexistent or being replaced by voice calls over data via various apps. I switched to Whatsapp for my European travel and was able to stay connected with family back home and even make calls to them without using my cell phone plan (or purchasing a temporary international plan from my carrier). You won't need it if your hotel has good wifi, but you will need it when no wifi (or no good wifi) is available.

So, because data is king, a traveler needs to have access to data that is reliable and abundant. This product satisfies both criteria if one is willing to pay top dollar. To refill 3 Gb it will cost you $99 (in 2016). 10 Gb is $299. You should count on burning through 3Gb a week if you are a data hog.

To refill abroad, you need the last six digits of the device's internal SIM card to add data online. So, if you buy this, you need to pry the device's cover open (carefully!) ASAP (a butter knife works) to make sure you find and identify the SIM card (don't remove it, you just need to find the last 6 numbers which may be spread out over two rows of printed numbers on the SIM card; I took a photo of the SIM card for future reference). The numbers are not specially noted, so you have to just count the last six printed digits of a longer number. Make sure you identify those 6 numbers and put them somewhere you can easily find them when traveling (I wrote them down, photographed them, and also emailed them to myself).

The main Keepgo refill website is easy to use. However, you need to fuss a bit if refilling abroad because you start in the foreign country's language on the credit-card pay webpage and need to switch to English, etc. This product is definitely worth it if you want more data at a lower cost than your US carrier (e.g. ATT) charges. However, you can go cheaper by buying a SIM card for an unlocked phone and simply sticking it in when traveling. In Italy, any Vodafone store will sell you a call and data SIM card that will be way cheaper than Keepgo. But it will not be as easy to use as this Keepgo system. I used Keepgo on my trip, but my college-age child switched to an Italian SIM card for Italy which also worked great in his IPhone and was 10 Gb a month for $20. My child is staying in Italy for a few months, so it made sense for him. I was only here for a week, so Keepgo worked better for me. Plus, I could use the Keepgo for my phone and IPad. Keep in mind that Keepgo does not give you a better signal than what is available. It will always show you a strong wifi signal, but this is meaningless because you are simply tapping into the cell network in your area, which may not be very strong. Happy travels!
