Peak Design Cuff Camera Wrist Strap Black (CF-BL-3)

Peak Design Cuff Camera Wrist Strap Black (CF-BL-3)

Peak Design Cuff Camera Wrist Strap Black (CF-BL-3)

Update: I originally stated there should be more magnets to accommodate more wrist sizes but I recently learned the magnet is movable. If you pinch ahead or behind the magnet like you would a tube of toothpaste, the magnet will inch along to customize for your wrist size. Genius!

It just arrived yesterday and I've had about 12 hours to attach it to my camera and wrap it around my wrist. Truly a great product that takes a universal design and makes it better through execution. Just a simple magnet in the strap allows it to be folded over itself to create a bracelet. Considerate design makes it passable in that regard. What makes it truly work are the Anchor links that make attachment and removal a one-handed affair. It may seem gimmicky up front but the convenience of being able to wear this on my wrist and able to clip in to my camera whenever I pull it from my bag will be a huge convenience, especially while on vacation; I can keep my camera in its bag more often rather than in my hand.

The only fault is there should be a fabric or plastic cover for the metal plate on the back of the buckle to prevent scratching my camera body while clipped in.

A wrist lanyard may be a $10 accessory but the utility built into this design truly elevates it, building value in its selling price.

Over the past few months, I’ve been testing more and more camera gear. The wrist strap is something I never really thought much about until my time with other Peak Design products. Learning how all of their straps work together via their unique Anchor Link system really made me take notice of them and the wrist strap they call the Cuff.

When taking my camera on and off tripods, sliders, neck straps, monopods, and now, wrist straps, I like to find ways to cut down on the time between swapping devices. It has been a priority to me. This is the main reason I switched from the Bogen/Manfrotto quick release plate to the ArcaSwiss style quick release plate systems and the same reasoning I have for switching all my straps over to Peak Design straps. I save time and hassle by using the products from Peak Design and it is outstanding.

The Cuff is a low profile wrist strap that can be worn as a bracelet so that it is out of the way when it’s not in use but can be quickly applied as a wrist strap by snapping it into place with the Peak Design Anchor Link. I can go from handheld to unstrapped and back on my tripod in seconds. Because Peak Design uses a plate that is designed to work with ArcaSwiss plates I can leave this plate on my camera and switch from the Cuff to the Neck Strap to my Monopod faster than unscrewing a standard strap’s 1/4″ screw from the camera.

The Cuff is made out of some incredibly strong materials. The strap features seatbelt-style nylon webbing with an anodized aluminum adjuster hardware while the connectors have anti-abrasion thermoplastic-corded Anchors. The Peak Design Clip is designed to handle over 200 lbs. The Cuff isn’t just for cameras, too. You can use it with binoculars, GoPros, rangefinders, tools, and more.

What comes in the box? Peak Design includes the Cuff and two of their Anchor Links. These are a newer style and are not flat like the previous models. They are designed to be easier to clip on. The Cuff also comes with a Peak Design sticker and a small carrying pouch. I can’t really get in words how truly wonderful this is. Needless to say, the Cuff is built very well and feels like it will last a long time. The threading looks like it was tightly sewed and all-in-all, I don’t have any complaints with this product.

Some people may say, “Who needs a wrist strap?” I personally feel better knowing my $3500 camera is safely attached to my wrist in the event that it gets knocked loose from my grip. It could happen easily when you are in a crowded room and trying to set up your gear or while you are breaking it down. Getting bumped while shooting interviews or just trying to take a break off to the side can cause catastrophe and having something like the Cuff to ensure that my Canon 5D Mark IV doesn’t smash to the ground is priceless to me. The Cuff might be a bit pricier than other wrist straps on the market coming in at $29.95 but because of the ecosystem that Peak Design has created, it’s worth every penny in my opinion.

Very stylish and functional wrist strap. I bought both this and the Peak Design clutch which kind of fills the same niche, and I was planning on trying both and returning the one I didn't like. However, I ended up keeping both because they are so easy to switch back and forth.

Pros:
The wrist strap is very stylish and made of quality materials. It is also very strong and instills confidence in the event of a drop.

I like that you can wear the wrist strap as a bracelet when you aren't using it, making it very easy to take out when you need it. If you're concerned about other reviews about the bracelet size, don't worry. You can simply shimmy the magnet inside of the strap to where you need it in order for the bracelet to close nicely.

Very easy to put on and take off of the camera thanks to Peak Design's quick release tabs. (comes with an extra one in case the one attached frays)

Better than the clutch because you can use this while your DSLR is on a small tripod and being hand held for videos or vlogging.

Cons:
As others have said, the magnet is not super strong, which means for me, that when I take my backpack off to access my camera, often the strap will graze the bracelet and it flops down. Not a big deal since I needed it at the moment anyway, but I'm trying to be honest.

Unlike the clutch it will not take any of the weight of holding the camera off your fingers

due to the design, if you should drop the camera, it would actually dangle (and swing probably) about a foot or so below your wrist. Now, this would maybe save your camera from falling off a cliff or into the ocean, but would it really matter if it swings and hits a railing or something? You may not lose the camera, but it won't necessarily be safe.

Conclusion:
Great accessory for your DSLR, and different enough from the clutch to make it worth buying as well. If you already use Peak Design products, that makes this even more valuable for you. I would definitely recommend this, however, if I lost both this and clutch, I would probably only replace the clutch.

I use this strap on a Hasselblad 500CM. Prior to discovering this strap, i thought my only option was a strap that had metal clips that attached to the pegs on the side which i was afraid would scratch if i detached them, but i decided to give this strap a shot and it works! It takes a little effort at first but the smaller anchor loops can attach around the strap pegs on the side of the body and once tightened, it is a solid connection! When i dont want to bring out a huge strap, I can just put the cuff on and lock my camera to it for some peace of mind when i'm out and about with my favorite camera. When i want to put the camera away, i just detach it, put it in the bag and then wrap the cuff around my left wrist to keep it handy.

The strap is made from very durable materials and feels like a car seatbelt. It is highly adjustable and will fit almost any sized wrist. The magnet that holds the strap on your wrist moves so you can get the fit just right. The Cuff is a very well designed product overall. If youre using a Hasselblad or other medium format camera that has strap pegs, this is a great option, definitely give it a try!

UPDATE: Recently, Peak Design has recalled their v3 anchors (7 out of a million sold broke prematurely) and is replacing them with new v4 anchors which have thicker cords. These new cords WILL NOT fit around the Hasselblad's mount points. A suggested workaround is to locate a set of the strap mounts for the Hasselblad or related camera and attach new V4 anchors to those as the cords should fit through those. You can find those from OpTech since they make a set of strap links for that camera, or KEH should have factory ones.

I am avid Peak Design user and currently own the Leash and Clip but needed something a bit more practical when walking about city. I looked at the Cuff for a while before deciding to purchase. Especially with the new design, it looks great.
The item was packed well and the material is excellent. It took me a while to adjust the Cuff and attached it to Peak Design plate that came with the Leash. It fits comfortably on the wrist and looks good to.

I bought this to use during my trip to Chicago and street photography and it was worked really well. On the first say I slipped on some ice and the Cuff already saved me about 2K in camera equipment from being damaged. Extremely worth the price.

I am using the Cuff with the Peak Design plate. The Cuff is great for my Sony A6500 but I think if you have a heavier camera it might be a bit uncomfortable.

Amazing strap. Very comfortable to wear - the material is kind of like a seatbelt. There's enough slack that if you want to wrap it around your wrist a couple times the camera stays put on your wrist and you can relax your hand a bit. But when you want to get that down-low shot, just unwind and you're in business. So much better than a hand strap. And being able to wear it on your wrist while not using it is just icing on the cake. I like the connector too. It's secure, yet able to be released without difficulty. Never thought I'd be this pumped about a wrist strap, but it's made my photo walks so much more enjoyable!

The Peak Design Cuff was exactly what I needed for my Canon EOS M50. I was using the Peak Design anchors with my Canon 70D and loved how quick and easy it was to disconnect the neck strap so I wanted a wrist strap that did the same for my M50.

If you own any products by PD then you know it’s of premium quality. The PD Cuff fits very comfortable around my wrist and the anchor lays perfectly flat to the side of my camera while in use. The design and quality of the strap is very sleek and nice. When you detach the anchor from your camera, the Cuff has a hidden magnet that allows you to wear it around your wrist like a bracelet. Package comes with 1x wrist strap, 2x anchors and a little carrying case.

Overall, this is a fantastic product by Peak Design and I’d highly recommend it!

I have honestly been a little dubious of whether or not Peak Design products were worth the cost (Before this strap, I've had absolutely no experience with their products, I just like saving money on products).

However, if this wrist strap is anything like their other products, I would say that they are absolutely worth the cost! I haven't been using it for too long, but it seems exceedingly well-made and is very comfortable (compared to other wrist straps I've used). It also seems very, very secure on my wrist and easily able to handle any camera set-up that I have. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants something to feel a little bit more secure but hates neck straps.

I've only had this for a little over a week but wanted to leave a review sooner than later. I'm extremely happen with this...it's very low profile, looks great and is VERY sturdy. In the photo attached I;m letting about 3 pounds hang from my wrist...with confidence.

Also LOVE the ash color, and the magnet embedded in the strip so you can wrap it around your wrist while not in use and it holds in place...super cool.

Literally the best designed wrist strap.

Went on a five week long vacation (Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Hong Kong, and China), this strap was just too useful.
I'll still buy it even if the price was set at $100

Easy to take off and with the magnet mechanic, it wraps around your wrist firmly as a wrist-let.

This strap works the best if you have the peak design clip so when you take the wrist strap off the camera, you can immediately mount the camera to the clip instead of holding it.
