Spigen Ultra Hybrid [2nd Generation] Designed for Apple iPhone 7 Case (2016) / Designed for iPhone 8 Case (2017) - Black

I have been trusting my devices to Spigen cases for years now and they have never let me down (even when I've let them down by dropping them time and time again). What can I say, as hard as I try, I'm as clumsy as a Hippo on roller skates! However, I HATE big chunky cases that detract from the sleek, sexy and slim profile of my iPhone. So, when my new iPhone 8 arrived, literally the first thing I did when I took it out of the box was apply a glass screen protector (I went with the Manto brand edge to edge one) and this clear case. First of all the two things play VERY well together in case you're wondering. The case doesn't lift up the screen protector at all. They provide all around protection without looking like they do, which is exactly what I go for! This case is SUPER slim and sleek and hardly adds ANY bulk to the phone. It makes it easier to hold, but I can still slide it in and out of my pocket with ease. It provides great minor drop protection. I've used this same case for years on other devices which have been subjected to MANY drops and have never had any damage to them! The buttons and volume rocker are covered but are SUPER easy to push with this case on. Whatever they did, I love it. The ports, speaker and camera holes are also perfectly accessible. I also love that this case does not interfere at all with wireless charging and that I can stick my magnetic magic mount on the back and use it in my car.

As much as I love it, I have 2 complaints about this case. The first is based on past experience, and that is that crystal clear ones (which is what I like) tend to yellow dramatically over time, especially around the sides. Obviously this one hasn't had that problem yet, but I see it as a problem with all clear cases and fully expect this one to be the same. However, at this price, I feel like I can afford to replace the case every 6 months to a year just to freshen up the look again. I wish I didn't feel the need to do that and the case would stay crystal clear, but so far that has just never happened with a clear case I've owned, so I've lowered my expectations with clear cases. The other quibble I have is that is is says "Designed in Irvine California Made in South Korea" down the side of the case. Is that REALLY necessary to have PRINTED on the case itself!? Can't you include that information on the packaging? The point of having a clear case is the show off the phone, not your company logo, product info and other branding etc. I feel like the Spigen logo is minimal and tasteful, but this SENTENCE of text down the side feels excessive and unnecessary. This is new from the last clear Spigen case I had and is not a welcome addition. Couldn't you at VERY LEAST have abbreviated California to CA and left off Irvine? If it hadn't been for this I probably would've given this case 5 stars. It may seem minor but it drives my OCD nuts.

Still, I really love this case and will continue to buy and recommend Spigen products. For the record, I have NEVER gotten anything for free or at a discount from Spigen and have always paid full price for these products just like everyone else. Hope this helps!

I just got this case today and it looks very stylish and modern. The clear back makes the apple logo stand out. The rubber sides of the case are soft to the touch but not too sleepery. The camera fits just fine and this is the real Spigen you can get at their website... but for half the price.
There’s a film that is to be removed before putting the case on your phone. It ‘twas “remove Protective film” I emphasize this cause I read a one star review from some moron who didn’t understand the purpose of it and had it replace and still didn’t know he or she needed to remove the film! I posted enough pics so that person knows how to peel the plastic!
Use common sense people!!! Duh!

The case is exactly what I was hoping for! It's crystal clear and a harder plastic so I'm pretty confident it won't discolor. (At least not very easily) The plastic doesn't feel cheap and it seems very sturdy. The buttons still have a nice kick back and the holes fit well around the camera/ volume/ charger port. It looks great on my red iPhone 8!

2 things I noticed about the product that some people may find issue with:
1. My case has a small hole on the right side of the screen near the camera hole
2. The words "Designed in Irvine California Made in South Korea" are pretty visible on one side.

*** For those saying the protective cover leaves words printed on the case, there's another protective plastic on the inside of the case!! When you remove both, there is no writing and it looks perfect!

Fits iPhone 8 perfectly, and wireless charging works with this cover in place.
I like that it is slim and unobtrusive, yet still protects the edges and corners of the phone with an air cushion. This is more than just a decorative skin, but not nearly as chunky as the typical protective case.
Note that the volume and lock buttons are covered with this case. They work fine, but if you insist on pushing the phone button directly (rather than having a case button on top of the phone button) then this is not for you.
Looks nice, protects without bulk, and a low price. What's not to like?

Spigen for the most part has been my go to for cases for my and my wife’s iPhone.

This was was no exception!

I love the look of the iPhone and didn’t want to cover it with some random solid color or design.
This has the clear back while still protecting it.
I use this in combination with a screen protector and it has been great.

I have dropped it on asphalt a few times ( I usually keep my phone on my lap so I can see who is calling then answer via Bluetooth in the car ) when I forget to put it in my pocket before getting out of the car. It just has a small little dent on one side, but otherwise is fine.

Cleaning it is also fast and easy.
It is a snug fit while also easy to take off.
About once a week ( if I remember! ) I’ll clean the phone and case with soapy water and it has been fine.

Description

Spigen Ultra Hybrid is ideal for minimal enthusiasts that still value protection. Ultra Hybrid is an ideal case for showing off your new iPhone 7 through its crystal clear TPU while also promising protection with Air Cushion Technology and bumper protection. Raised lips are strategically placed behind every corner to ensure camera and back protection. Ultra Hybrid is available in four different colors: Crystal Clear, Rose Crystal, Black and Mint.

This thing is great for iPhone 8. It is a good mix of protection and not-too-bulky size, it is comfortable to hold, and most importantly the color of the phone shines through.

There is a lip around the screen to provide some protection so that you don’t need to buy a screen protector. The sides are curved and feel somewhat rubberized, which makes it easy to hold and doesn’t dig into your hands. I haven’t had any big drops yet, but this thing is sturdy and it clearly provides a solid level of protection. The “air cushion technology” seems legit.

There are just a couple tiny drawbacks to consider. Fingerprints do get on the back easily. But if I didn’t have a case, they’d be on the phone instead. Even with the fingerprints, it does a terrific job of showing off the space gray color. You’ll clean it from time to time.

Second, it’s not quite as slim or light as I had hoped for. It’s not bulky by any means, but it does add to the width of the phone. But that’s the trade off for the level of protection, so I’m ok with it.

I’ve had this phone case since I got my new phone . I vouch for this company because I’ve dropped my phone a million times so many that I throw it for fun sometimes and my iPhone 7 is never going to break with this case . These drops I’m talking about is from your hand , a bike , a car , simple realistic falls . I’m not sure about extreme falls but hey , I’d bet it still last.
One thing I will also say is that I have a glass screen protector also just FYI .

Upon putting this cover/case in my amazon shop cart, I was under the impression that the backing was black and not clear plastic. Guess I didn't read the product description intensely enough. But of course, it IS clear plastic, hence the visible Apple emblem. Overall this seems a good solid phone case. I previously bought a Spigen cover some months back and it, too, is a good one. At first I was unhappy with my first purchase. But as time went by I grew to like it more and more. Matter of fact, I like it better than I do this newer one and therefore, I use it for my weekend activity. I use my newer one for work(I'm a truck driver -- lots of phone cover abuse as result). But I must emphasize the fact that the back clear plastic portion of this cover is super strong. And it doesn't seem to be scratching. Unbelievable! It is holding up to my punishment. You can't beat any of these Spigen phone covers in my opinion.

I love this brand. I have tried other cases since the iPhone 4...and always end up back with Spigen. And always from Amazon. I have this on my white iPhone 8 and I love how clean it looks. I do have to wipe the back off once to get rid of fingerprints, but I do that for sanitary reasons anyway. While the case is smooth I don’t feel like it is slippery. I’ve actually dropped my phone less since switching to this style, than when I had the slim and tough armor. This particular style feels better in my hand. I have a glass screen cover on my phone and it hasn’t affected that. The port holes and buttons are all perfectly aligned. There are two small holes in the bottom corners on the back that another reviewer mentioned, but I’m assuming they are here for a reason. The case isn’t meant to be waterproof or anything. Overall, highly recommend this brand and style.

Have had this case a couple days. Love the design- simple, protective enough, while keeping the design and quality look of the original phone. I like my purchase so far. Something I did not notice on the product images was that the back of the case has raised corners so the phone lays on the table nicely. Good feature. Back of the case is clear and gets fingerprints easily, but the phone would collect fingerprints anyway. I'll edit post if I notice any wear on the hard plastic edges.
